Do advertisements persuade you into buying things?

To me they're hellaciously annoying and infiltrating every crevice of my brain. Everywhere I look they're flashing in my face, insultingly, insinuatingly targeted at my demographic.

Actually i hardly ever am influence by ads. Once though, an ad went by on email and I fell for it, happily it was real. I ordered a gross of roses for $99 USD.
