Try Amarone, an excellent wine from the Veneto.
If you like Bordeaux try a decent St.-Émilion Grand Cru.

@helenS You know I love wine, and I do drink a lot of Spanish, Italian and some French wine. But, I have discovered some very chewable, delicious US wines as well. That Costco one is a real "find."

@samueltyler2 I have tried several Californian wines in the past and they are delicious! In fact I wouldn't be able to tell they are not of Mediterranean origin. There are excellent wines that come from Chile, and Australia as well. The superiority of "classic" European wines is a myth, in my opinion (Amarone is an exception, of course! 😁)

Yes, I used to drink a lot of Australian Wines, the Gregg Norman blends are wonderful, reproducible year to year. We are going through a Spanish phase, we like the highly oaky wines.

Burgundies are too overpriced to drink!
