I have recently given up eating meat.

I have Familial Hypertriglyceridemia, and my triglycerides are a little high. I have known this for many years, but I guess I didn't really want to face this about myself. However, a couple of weeks ago, I started doing my genealogy again. This time, I went at it from another angle. I started finding out why each person died. 🙂

Well, it wasn't good news. All but two of my family lines, back through the 6th grandparents, have died from heart attack, stroke, liver disease, pancreatitis, and kidney disease. On the death certificates, the secondary causes, almost always, included arteriosclerosis. That made me pay attention.😱

So, I started the research into how to lower triglycerides, and there was alot about eating really lean meat, not eating simple carbs or sugar, and eating healthy fats. So, I got to thinking, what if I just give up eating altogether? I mean, I have already given up all sweeteners and most carbs, and if I gave up meat, that would eliminate a lot of oils for frying, so today is my 3rd day meat-free.🙂

I have been pleasantly surprised by how good I feel. I have more energy, less emotionalism, and no digestive issues. I even had a surprise of several hours of ketosis yesterday. I wasn't expecting anything to really be different, but I do feel better. 🙂

@Swoop62 I have heard Tennessee Waltz before. We used to play it in band in school,back a million years ago, but I had never heard Peggy do it before. ❤

@WildMountainRose I cannot say I heard Peggy Lee sing that for sure but do like the version by Pattie Page. Like the way she injects feelings into that song. i sound like o know music but you being in band leaves me way short. Did like playing that again and it is on my favorites on Youtube.

@Swoop62 I don't really know music anymore.It was a million years ago, and although I can still read a little music, I can't play anymore. I gave it up to raise 2 generations of kids, and when I went to pick it up again, I found out it wasn't like riding a bike. Still, I do dearly love all kinds of music. ❤ I appreciate talking with someone else who likes music too. Thank you.🙂

@WildMountainRose Never could read or play music and singing is atrocious at best. was told not to sing any more in Church in second grade. But I do sing along in the car but try not to get above the actual singer and ruin it. have to say two type of music I do not like is Rap and Opera. Would like some of anything else. Okay, have to take a guess and say that you played the flute. . And you are welcome for my adding to your music discussion.

I am not in the South, but other people have made this guess as well. I live in the Mountain West region of the United States.🙂
