I have recently given up eating meat.

I have Familial Hypertriglyceridemia, and my triglycerides are a little high. I have known this for many years, but I guess I didn't really want to face this about myself. However, a couple of weeks ago, I started doing my genealogy again. This time, I went at it from another angle. I started finding out why each person died. 🙂

Well, it wasn't good news. All but two of my family lines, back through the 6th grandparents, have died from heart attack, stroke, liver disease, pancreatitis, and kidney disease. On the death certificates, the secondary causes, almost always, included arteriosclerosis. That made me pay attention.😱

So, I started the research into how to lower triglycerides, and there was alot about eating really lean meat, not eating simple carbs or sugar, and eating healthy fats. So, I got to thinking, what if I just give up eating altogether? I mean, I have already given up all sweeteners and most carbs, and if I gave up meat, that would eliminate a lot of oils for frying, so today is my 3rd day meat-free.🙂

I have been pleasantly surprised by how good I feel. I have more energy, less emotionalism, and no digestive issues. I even had a surprise of several hours of ketosis yesterday. I wasn't expecting anything to really be different, but I do feel better. 🙂

I believe Peggy Lee also did "Is That All There Is"

And good luck with your eating regiment.

@WildMountainRose yep, recall "Fever' well and appreciate the "Is Thar All There Is" replay And to throw in another one is Tennessee Waltz although she did not do it first.

@Swoop62 I have heard Tennessee Waltz before. We used to play it in band back a million years ago, but I had never heard Pegy do it before. ❤

Her voice is sooo beautiful. :-)

i gave up meat when i was 12 years old. i dont miss it. you might want to continue eating a little chicken or seafood for a year or two to let your body adjust gradually though. thats what they recommend. first red meat, then chicken and fish. i never ate much red meat so i just stopped altogether though.

@Penny I might think about a little fish or chicken if I get to feeling bad, but right now I am feeling so great without any meat. Thank you for sharing a little about yourself with me and for your kind advice. 🙂

@WildMountainRose youre welcome. ive been seeing how they are saying vegetarians have almost 50% less cases of cancer than non vegetarians. and lots of studies show vegetarians live longer. so i think its great you made that decision.

@jshm2 I agree that American meats are really bad, and buying better meats costs more than I want to pay. 🙂

I don't mind taking a lot of supplements. I also have MTHFR mutations, so I have been taking alot of supplements for decades now. Thank you for your kind comment. I appreciate it. 🙂
