More meat for the rest of us. They can eat the side dishes and salads. Seriously though the boy is a teen and he can eat a lot of quality protein in one sitting.

@cherokeepatti Told you. Teen boys are absolutely voracious!

@4meAndyou Fortunately he also loves baked Mac & cheese and homemade dinner rolls and lots of other things I fix too. But trusting him with a roast chicken after we’ve filled our plates, that’s like trusting a German shepherd to guard it for you.

@cherokeepatti See if you can fill him up with eggs or tofu...lots cheaper!

@4meAndyou No soy in this house especially for boys. He does like eggs, I made deviled eggs last month and he hadn’t had them in a long time and really liked them. I guess if they fill up the feral cat they can fill him up too 😂

@cherokeepatti Fried egg and cheese sandwiches are good, too!

@4meAndyou He likes grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas and he makes his own most of the time for lunches. He really likes grilled cheese with some kind of good soup, cream of potato, tomato-basil or meatball-rice-cinnamon tomato soup.

@cherokeepatti I used to love cream of tomato and grilled cheese. Tell him to throw a fried egg onto the grilled cheese sandwich and he will get more of that protein his body needs so badly right now!

@4meAndyou He’s kind of weird about adding things to what he already likes. Took me a long time to expand his diet to what it is now. He was the pickiest child I ever knew. I don’t know if he got a lot of that from his older sister or if his grandmother just served him what he liked….he like chicken nuggets and tenders, pancakes, steak or other meats, potatoes, Mac & cheese, and fried eggs without the yolks. I think his grandmother didn’t want to fuss with him and just let him have his choice. He refused to eat a hamburger back then and I never knew a child who hated hamburgers. He stayed with aunt a few months before she was tired of caring for him & his picky appetite but much of the time they’d go to restaurants cause they had money to, and he’d order something like chicken nuggets or chicken tenders and fries.

@cherokeepatti My son was never picky. He would eat everything except mushrooms. Said it was a texture thing.

@4meAndyou He’s not crazy for beans but I can make chicken & lentils and he’ll eat it, sometimes meat with beans and he’ll have that too. Not crazy for mushrooms but he likes them on pizza and in spaghetti if I don’t put too many.

@cherokeepatti It's funny how many people hate mushrooms, isn't it? I really love them.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I didn’t care for them when I was young, either. But after I got married I had a recipe that called for cream of mushroom soup so I made it and got to liking those tiny bits of mushrooms and eventually started putting them in spaghetti sauce. I cook with them quite a bit now.

@cherokeepatti Me, too. I like anything that is sauteed slowly in garlic, butter, and sherry!
