Potato vegan Eid ka'ak 🥔😚 It is Kafer Ka'ak. If you are a devout Muslim celebrating Eid, this Ka'ak can get you in trouble 🥔🥴
I call this a success on so many levels;
1) i didn’t make a huge amount as I always unintentionally make. Somehow the amount of dough matched the filling, you have no idea how satisfying this feeling is! I have no leftovers!!
2) Of all the videos I watched, everyone kept emphasizing on ways to keep the shape after it is baked as if it was a miracle. I ignored all advice, and my method was to just press hard and to keep banging on the cake mold so loudly until my neighbors almost called the police, so that I can get the piece out, worked out just fine 🥔🤷🏾♀️
3) I used plant based ghee (apparently available in major supermarkets here and it was the usual Arabic brand too I've used my entire life, looks like westerners don't ever use ghee? No other brands?) But that completely messed up the measures I was given as everyone on YouTube was using animal based ghee.🥔🤷🏾♀️ The dough looked disgusting at some point, i thought it would never happen lol
And lastly, I re-learned a life lesson I already knew, which is that practice makes perfect. In every aspect. Like the first row of cookies I made differed tremendously from the last row and I only made like 3 rows lol But by the third row, I had already realised I was using too much dough which was ruining the shape and of course later the taste when it is baked because it won't be as light. I felt bad, because the difference was so obvious, but all in all, not too shabby for potato first attempt with vegan ingredients too! 🥔😚
