Tomatoes for the sauce wasn't even known until the 16th century. 🤣

@pdockal it's not pizza without tomato sauce. So anything before your 18th century is irrelevant.

I beg to differ ....
• Arrival in Europe: Spanish conquistadors brought tomatoes back to Europe from the Americas in the 16th century following the Columbian Exchange.
• First Italian Reference: They were first documented in Italy in 1544 by physician Pietro Andrea Mattioli, who called them pomo d'oro ("golden apple"), which evolved into the modern word pomodoro.
It wasn't until the late 17th and 18th centuries—particularly in the sunnier regions of Southern Italy—that people began cooking with them, eventually leading to iconic Italian varieties like the San Marzano

I gave you some slack even by saying 18th century.

If there was an international award for pettyness, I'd propose Mr. Tamburella.

I'm not picky when it comes to toppings.
Among my favorites are pepperoni, pineapple Hot peppers and anchovies.
I have a friend whose preference is for a plain cheese pizza, no toppings of any kind.

SUCH a simple solution was available the whole time.
Having MADE pizzas in restaurant, in the past, I can say that the chef COULD have made the crust and put the sauce on top...and then a lowly peon...probably the dishwasher or the sous chef, could have place the offensive toppings on the pizza and could have thrown said abomination on the oven shovel and could have completed the process, without the prima donna chef soiling his hands.

Pineapple has no business on pizza
