Pizza is a generic term for a form of flat bread with sauce and toppings. There is no consistency in thickness of the bread dough, the sauce, or toppings even in Italy and Sicily; it is what you want, or what you have on hand. I personally do not care for pineapple on it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't belong for people who like and want it.
