Starbucks busted as well

@Dan193 Whenever I travel around continental Europe and see McDonalds, BurgerKing, KFC, Starbucks etc, my first thought is always:

WHY?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@room101 I know Italians, of course outside my circles (and if they were in now they would be out 😌) that come out with nonsense like "nooo why go to the pizzeria there, when there's McD that costs less?"

@Elessar I had exactly this conversation yesterday with one of my Catalan friends (I've been living in Barcelona for the last two and a half years), when I saw the "news" alert. He studied in Naples and it always baffled him that anybody would even think about McD's etc when real pizza's were so much cheeper and of much better quality in every way.

@Elessar btw, loved this bit:

"and if they were in now they would be out"

😂😂😂
@room101
It caters to the tourists. That’s why.
And they offer local specialties on their menu that varies by city/country.

@CookieCrumbs They (I'm talking about McD's, BK and KFC) do alter their ingredients and choices a little bit to cater for local tastes. However, not enough to make any real difference.

Also, it's not just tourists that frequent those establishments. Young people go to them because they've bought into the USA hype.

Obviously we can determine reasons "why?", I simply find many of those reasons to be rather daft🤷‍♂️
@room101
I agree. The younger generation prefer those places because they are foreign/American brands.
