Well, that's better then if you were at STARBUCKS with your coffee.Their product is terrible !
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@DavidT8899 I won't go there anyways too expensive.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@deepblacknothingness Bad and expensive .There's a good combination!

I don't often drink coffee when I'm out but I prefer McDonalds coffee to Starbucks or Costa, especially Costa, which I find soulless and lacking any character.
Young people seem to love hanging out in the expensive coffee shops so there's nothing wrong with older people doing the same in McDonalds.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Not McDonald's, but I do go to cafes a couple of times a week. I generally have coffee though. At home I drink tea.

I'm in that same age range but I don't think of myself as old.
@ninalanyon yea nina is a classy broad you wont find her at a mcdonalds
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@unsociableAnthony Once in a while (once a year perhaps) I do stop at a McDonald's to use their Wi-Fi when I'm travelling through Northern Europe on my way from Norway to the UK. The coffee is usually bearable and that's pretty much all I have. Another reason for stopping there is the multilingual ordering screens which saves me the bother of trying to use my rudimentary French or German to order and risking getting something I didn't want when all I really want is the Wi-Fi.

But usually I time my journey so that I can either stop at IKEA or find some local cafe that will be worth putting a little effort into communication. I recommend Herby's Coffee Bar in Koblenz.
They have nice breakfasts.

While it's not always McDonald's, a seat in a local cafe window with a hot coffee is peaceful.
A little down time to just watch the world go by.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
Not McDonalds, but I go and sit in the local Waitrose Cafe a couple of times a week, usually in conjunction with a food shop. Coffee and a Danish pastry, something like that, and I notice that there are a lot of old codgers like me in there.

I did it on a weekday morning when I first retired because I could. It's become a nice little routine.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
On Saturday morning I went to McDonalds got the pancakes and coffee and sat and watched the rain on the mountains... First time I ever did that. Could be a trend. If it wasn't for all the teenagers.
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@Thevy29 pretty peaceful isn't it? Well minus the teenagers
No... but I like to shop as soon as the discount grocery store opens (7 a.m. sharp) most Sundays with all the other geezers (there's usually 3 or 4 of us). Then on the way home I'll head to a Tim Horton's drive-thru for a large double cream coffee and 6 jelly-filled donuts.
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@rinkydinkydoink Donuts sound fantastic.
@deepblacknothingness

I tell myself I'll eat 2 a day for 3 days but they're ALWAYS devoured within hours...
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@rinkydinkydoink That's what I tell myself with bbq chips. Just have a few and then the bag is demolished.
HappyHobbiest · 56-60, F
No, I have become the old person who walks around Walmart to get my miles in. There are many of us, especially in the winter, because we have no shopping malls here.😄
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Coffee or tea, only occasionally; never in QuackDonalds, Costalotta or Starbust; and I am not old, just having a youth that's lasted 50 years and counting.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@DavidT8899 Ordinary, independant cafes. I have about 4 favourite watering-holes in my town, all non-chain.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@ArishMell Non chains are usually better in quality ,aren't they ?
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@ArishMell Although I must say that's not ALWAYS true .For example : Wawa is a major convenience store chain where I am ,and they make the best coffee I've ever had .
Likestoenjoylife · 51-55, M
Its usually a group of 4 or 5 friends at the fast food place having coffee everyday I am still working cant do that but they start with one and others join them
Omg…yes!
Thanks for making me aware of this 🤭
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine I think every McDonalds has that club. I'm not sure if I'm quite old enough to fully join in.
@deepblacknothingness I would be the youngest in the group lol
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine Same here I'm 61 turning 62 this year
StygianKohlrabi · 46-50, M
yeah but I don't like the atmosphere there. it was much better as a kid with mayor mccheese and the mcplay area.
I am what I consider to be old but I avoid mcdonalds and have no idea how it is still in business
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@unsociableAnthony I'm not knocking your opinion : you are entitled to think what you want.Im just curious about what SPECIFICALLY makes it low class ,compared to the other places around .
@DavidT8899 I think because it has had a reputation of being a low effort dinner since as long as I ever remember. It's a meme to tell people you are going to eat at mcdonalds. It means cheap low quality food for so long.

Wendys and Burger King is kind of the same but McDonalds is the OG ghetto fast food place.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@unsociableAnthony Do you know what I think would be a good idea : a HIGH END burger joint .It would undoubtedly be more expensive ,but ......
pdockal · 56-60, M
I don't go to McDonald's
Rather a diner
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I'm not getting dressed to leave the house. My coffee is better and cheaper anyhow.
Wetmybed · 61-69, M
I go to Wetherspoons
deepblacknothingness · 61-69, M
@Wetmybed I've never heard of wetherspoons. What kind of place is it
stringtheory · 18-21, F

ninalanyon · 61-69, T
