Servers make good serious money off tips, I knew many that easily cleared over $1,200 a week in the early 90's when I was in food service myself.

@NativePortlander1970 A lot depends on the type of restaurant and the wealthiness of the customers. Casino wait staff can make really good money especially Friday-Sunday evenings when the crowds are there. But some of the restaurants are taking their tips and dividing them among everyone instead of the best servers being rewarded better for their efforts.
@cherokeepatti Tip sharing is actually against labor laws, aka wage theft.

@NativePortlander1970 Seems like it but they are doing it. I don’t know if the laws differ in various states or what.
@cherokeepatti It's federally illegal, but the BinBiden department of labor ignores the complaints against it, as did Obama, Baby Bushstain43, and Clinton before them.

@NativePortlander1970 Trump says when he gets back into office they won’t be taxed on their tips. So that’s a good thing.
@cherokeepatti They only get taxed on 15% of their receipts, they often tipped far more if they're a good server, sometimes 25% or more, eliminating tip taxes is not fair to other workers. What Trump need to do is enforce the illegality of tip "sharing".

@NativePortlander1970 Over 30 years in the industry and half of that in management, so I know what I'm talking about.
If you don't like tip sharing, don't work somewhere that does it. It's called freedom of choice and tip sharing is not illegal.
