People are finally fed up enough with tipping culture that it's in the news.

Well I'll tell ya what, I've been fed up with it for years. Fight me!

I don't agree, tipping is the best incentive for good service. In NY, it is not unheard of, for bartenders to make well into 6 figures. Even in a hole in the wall Irish pub.

You have to be on your toes and make your customers want to return. The Irish there have an uncanny 6th sense of when someone's glass is empty without even looking.

If they are still open when the other service workers get off they really clean up. They take care of each other

@SW-User I don't think people should be obligated to leave tips or certain amount. The option to tip should be there, yes. If you can afford to leave money and you want to, to show appreciation, great. But it shouldn't be such a must. The only obligatory payment should be the price.listed that you agree to pay for food. Companies need to pay their employees livable wages. And servers shouldn't need to only want to do their job well for the sake of a tip. In my opinion

@Notsimilarreally in an ideal world maybe. But take out the incentive and see what you get for service

@SW-User I'm sure some would feel quite spiteful if it were suddenly, randomly taken away.

@SW-User I get perfectly good service in the UK and Norway without tipping. Do you tip bus drivers or checkout operators in supermarkets? Do you feel that you would get better service if you tipped?

@SW-User 🤔yes i can understand thinking but that should not be the case if you want somebody too come back too your establishment you give a good service too attract there custom . if they are happy with the service they have received and offer a gratuity well that is a bonus

@smiler2012 The tipping culture also lets the brilliant shine. The ones who hustle, really go out of their way and create an impression can do extremely well. It's a visceral reward

@SW-User basically go that extra mile too impress your customer makes sense
