People of the UK: Do you leave a tip at restaurants?

Somewhat nicer places are starting to add a ‘discretionary’ 12.5% charge to the bill, and then if paying digitally a separate screen pops up requesting a tip on top. The second request seems a little excessive.

Usually. It is part of the insane economics of the catering sector, I am afraid . . spend £1.5 million on refitting/rebranding the restaurant building, while paying your young staff the minimum wage and expecting them to live on gratuities 😟
