To anyone who says that they don't tip because they feel that restaurants should pay their employees better wages

What you should do is email the owners of any restaurant you eat at and ask them to start charging for water and to also increase the prices of all their menu items so that they can afford to pay the higher wages. That way people won't be expected to tip anymore. That's pretty much what they do in other countries where tipping isn't customary.

@Menetics a ‘discretionary’ 12.5% service charge has become the norm in the UK, added to the bill :) Seems reasonable.
