Sort of, but I make sure I never have large amounts of food, especially perishable food, in the house. Apart from the occasional expedition to Lidl or Aldi most of my shopping is little and often.

@ArishMell Since the pandemic and my retirement I’ve had to limit my shopping to once a month and getting the right amounts has been a learning curve for me.

@bijouxbroussard Yes, it is quite a skill, valuable to cultivate. I don't think I am there, but I don't shop only once a month, and more importantly I waste very little food.
It's not easy though when living alone because most things are sold in quantities assuming at least two sharing.
I found long ago a standard tin does contain two portions and I simply keep the remaining half in the fridge for a meal a day or two later.
