What do you think ofThe French President said he will ban social media use for kids under 15yo.

I'm not really convinced about the necessity of banning social media for youth. Usage or restriction should be up to the parents. What governments should be focusing on more is smartphone/tablet/computer use at an early age and the impact it has on nearsightedness (myopia), because that trend is progressing into a serious global medical issue. A significant portion of the youth now is scheduled to have serious eye issues at a later age. That should receive far more attention than whether or not they use social media at a young age.

I don’t think social media is good for kids at all. Bad for self esteem and so much else. Hadnt heard about this but honestly, I think I like the idea. 😅

It's like the USA's dalliance with Prohibition and the War on Drugs. Trying to restrict access to something the public wants only accentuates the desire for it. If anyone thinks kids will be positively affected or stopped by an outright ban, they don't understand the human (or animal) condition.

Instead of brute force, education takes longer, more effort, and offers the feeling of less control, but it always pays the greatest dividends.
