Dozy postie!

My daughter sent me this lovely afternoon tea package for my birthday yesterday. We spoke on the phone about 10pm and she said 'have u had yr pressie' i said no and she told me she'd had notification it had been delivered early evening. I went back outside to look....no sign. No card through to door to say it had been left with a neighbour or to arrange redelivery.
Then....i looked in my paper recycling bin....and there it was.
I mean.... why would the postie put a package clearly marked fresh food into any sort of bin???? Beggars belief!! If she hadnt have called, it may have been there days and out of date and only fit for the bin!!!
Thankfully it was well packed and had only been in there about 3 hours.
Postman Prat!!!!

Our previous house had it's own postcode, yet we rarely got post. Royal Mail had a huge turnover of staff, many being foreigners who never became regular on a delivery route. For years we complained, but nothing was done. As a result my partner missed hospital appointments and we had to make sure any delivery was not with Royal Mail.

What a thoughtful lovely gift. Hope you had a lovely birthday.
It was to keep it safe from being seen amd stolen.

It was just a paper recycling bin: not yucky or anything.

I think it was a considerate thing to do - nice postie🤗

@OogieBoogie our recycling bins are stackable trollies with the sections for cans, glass etc. Fairly clean.....but he should have put a note through my door to tell me it was there?
Its food! And its still right next to the rubbish bin!
@RubySoo yeah, they could of but ...
... I dont know about where you are, but here, posties and delivery guys are on a pretty tight schedule.
Here, they don't even knock anymore, they just dump, notify and go.

Deliveries arent like they used to be.
And if you think about it - imagine how much time it would take if a postie had to leave a hand written note for half his deliveries?

It all adds up.

I think we have to remember our standards cant be applied to them.

Like...i clean classrooms right?
I get pissy when kids dont put up their chairs.
- its nothing, it takes like 20 seconds to put up a chair🤷‍♀

For one chair per person that is.

For me - if every kid doesn't put up their chair - it adds like 45 minutes to my work load.
And it puts a huge workload on my back at about 5kg each.

I get fucking pissed off.

So i think we should try and understand what each person has to deal with in their job.

Im sure you get it.
You think about everything you put up with in your job that is multiplied by 100.

A one off isnt a big deal.
But when you have to do it over and over and over ...
...it is a big deal.

So it could be, from that perspective, the postie did wjat they thought was best given their time constraints?...maybe?🤷‍♀

Also...HAPPY BIRFDAY !

Happy B'day Ruby

Postie put package in bin so package thieves didn't see it.

@Orca4950 But notifying her is necessary in that case, a simple note in with the regular mail.

@RubySoo Then perhaps write the postmaster. I know they have been hard done by in recent years but this is not a good situation.
