This sounds good. But it has been ages since I have had proper crab.

I'm east coast, I'd need some old bay. I love seafood and that sounds really good. Lemon always pairs well but I do like a lil spice. Enjoy!
@catastrophecarnival It has its origins in Baltimore. 😉
@catastrophecarnival I'll put it on almost anything. Tastes like home.
@MarbleMarvel I put it on everything...so good

Ah.. you do know how thousand island dressing is made?

I mention this because of something you said you don't like.

If you use a different dressing than thousand Island you might consider relish, yet then you're running into the onion problem.

Would add olives.

Fry up the shrimp in extra virgin olive oil and butter, add crushed garlic or garlic powder.

The garlic really depends if you are using a dressing that may have garlic in it.

You don't want to overdo the garlic.
@DeWayfarer This is helpful, thank you. I know that thousand island has mayonnaise in it, I just don’t care for mayonnaise alone.
I’m leaning towards the other dressing, which is a bit lighter.
Great idea with the shrimp, and will add the olives. 😄

I add chickpeas to all my salads. Just bc I like them alot, they fill you up, and I try to use up all my old can goods. Newman's has a Caesar dressing that isn't creamy, it's sooo good (I hate mayo).
@Selah I’ve been buying more chickpeas, too. And I believe I have some. 😃

You mean black olives?

Do Kalamata olives instead, pitted, slice in half.

Grilled corn. Trader Joe’s.

Cheese: either crumbled feta.

Dressing:one part dijon mustard, one part lemon juice. Mix well, add three parts olive oil. Mix well.

I usually use red onions, but you’re allergic.

I also use the Trader Joe’s spring salad mix instead of shredded lettuce. I grill the shrimp not boil it.

@bijouxbroussard I sometime add balsamic to that dressing. I don't always add crab, but I make this salad about once a week.

Other stuff I add: small mediterranean cucumbers, and Jicama (trader joe's) and cilantro.

Sauté'ing the shrimp makes it "soggy". I use a sheet pan with a rack, and pre-marinate with olive oil and lime juice and broil in the oven.
@Northwest How long do you broil, approx ?
Northwest · M
@bijouxbroussard It broils really fast. When they start turning pink, turn over, and what that side turns pink, take out. Make sure you're not overcooking.

This sounds amazing already.....and I'm certainly no chef; but when I see shrimp I think of garlic butter.

Or like grated.
I love seafood. I'd probably add lemon ,smoked paprika and black pepper.
ArtieKat · M
I'm possibly too late but it sounds delicious!

Do you like Greek yoghurt, @bijouxbroussard?
@ArtieKat I love it, I often substitute it for sour cream or mayonnaise.
ArtieKat · M
@bijouxbroussard Exactly! That's my go-to! For seafood, possibly add a dash of tomato puree or ketchup

Just celery is all i can think of. But im late to this party. Also...no thousand island. I think the main objective is to taste that wonderful seafood.
Achelois · F
Red and green peppers, cucumbers, spring onions, different salad leaves, tomatoes 🍅

Mix lime and soy with chilli is nice as a dressing.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
I love bacon and boiled eggs in my salads
Love crab but not shrimp
Tomatoes, bell pepper in parts, and sliced boiled eggs with a drip ketchup on top
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
Old bay, celery
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Grate in some carrot and small slices of celery.😷
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
Fir me it would just be mayo and avocado
