Why does my coworker want to know if I can cook?😳

I’ve had all these kind of conversations with some of my coworkers. We talked about our favourite biscuits and all of that. What I mean is that I think it depends on the context of how he asked. if If its a question that came out of the blue and you barely know him but he asked anyway, or were you talking about cooking or eating food and that came up and then he asked. I think it makes a difference.
