what do you do when you add "too much salt" while cooking ?

I add a grated apple, or a potato or cream, (ometimes lemon juice or vinegar)
Its amazing how much it helps.

Or in last chance scenarios, i go thru all the senses of taste:
sweet., sour , umami, and bitterness (and salt, but forget that ), and i add essences of all them to counteract the salt .

Sometimes if you end up with a dish that is too intense in flavour, serve it with rice or pasta .
