Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that I don't do coffee. I find its odor to be offensive and its taste even worse. However, I do recognize that I am the odd one out on this subject. You guys all love the putrid stuff. So the question then becomes how much do you all consume??

Well, there is this to help us find an answer:

Looking just at this graphic alone, one might assume that Luxembourgers consume the most coffee. But don't they primarily have those little tiny cups? If the unit of measure is cups, then certainly size does matter. The size of the cup of coffee that is. 🤦‍♀

Around here (New England, USA), those who do imbibe of this odiferous fluid do so in big 20-24 ounce chilled cups (590 - 710ml). In contrast, those little cups they deal with in Luxembourg tend to be around 5-6 ounces (150 - 180 ml). So number of cups consumed seems to be a very skewed unit of measure tending to bias the results in favor of those with tiny cups. ;)

- Do you do coffee?
- If so, how? Hot? Cold? With milk?
- And how much do you consume in a day? -- Please answer this last question in the poll. :)

Wow!! In just the first 8 votes, I have two kindred spirits who do not drink coffee. 25%! I never knew!

Okay, we non-coffee drinkers are down to 4 out of 26, or 15%.

I say MAX out

Degbeme · 70-79, M
I usually have between 5-6 8oz before noon.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@Degbeme Wow that's a lot just to get the motor running! ;)
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@sarabee1995 Yeah been doing it for years.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@Degbeme Wow. So what would a day be like at this point without caffeine?
MarineBob · 61-69, M
Yes,hot with milk. Answered
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@MarineBob I don't think I know a single Marine who does not drink coffee. ;)
For morning: I make one 12 oz of mocha latte
For afternoon: one shot espresso
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@CookieCrumbs Sounds fancy! ;)
@sarabee1995
It’s home-made. Hehe espresso, milk and chocolate powder. 😋
black4white · 56-60, M
I don’t do coffee and proud of it lol
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@black4white I don't do coffee either, but I'm not sure I've ever been proud of that decision. It just is.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
I like my latte once a day, and perhaps an instant (sorry purists!) once a day. Tea at other times.
within · 36-40, M
I love coffee. My favourite is cappuccino.
I'm not a big fan of black coffee, but I still prefer it to tea.

In Italy tea is usually drunk without milk and by people who are ill.
Unless things have changed in the last few years (I left Italy in 2013).
emmasfriend · 46-50, F
Two cups of strong black coffee at breakfast time
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@emmasfriend And none the rest of the day??
emmasfriend · 46-50, F
@sarabee1995
Usually none.
If I go to a restaurant for lunch, I might have an espresso instead of dessert
ninalanyon · 70-79, T
I only drink coffee when I visit a cafe, I average less than a cup per day. Somewhere between your none at all and 300-600 ml. At home I drink tea, perhaps a litre a day.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@ninalanyon Nice. I do love a good cup of tea. And, yes, I should've put in an under 300 ml category! 🤦‍♀
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I don't like it either.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@DrWatson The numbers seem to be coming to 15% of us do not like it.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@sarabee1995 We're a cult!
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@DrWatson Or they are!!! ;)
faery · F
One 6 oz. cup with 1 tsp sugar and 2 oz. milk
XxBlahxX · F
Once a week should have been an option
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@XxBlahxX Not a big coffee fan?
XxBlahxX · F
@sarabee1995 I am but I limit myself to 1 cup a week for health reasons
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@XxBlahxX That's probably a good thing!
ineedadrink · 56-60, M
However many ounces a pot is, with one spoonful of sugar & a splash of milk.
As much as I love coffee (and I do), according to my Keurig I only consume 1 12 oz cup per day, at breakfast. Occasionally (a couple of times per month) I may indulge in an iced coffee, but I’ve cut back considerably.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard Cut back for health reasons??
@sarabee1995 Yes, and my body reacts differently to it than when I was younger.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard Makes sense. I do take in a lot of caffeine in a day (just not from coffee) and I wonder about the long term impact.
Yulianna · 26-30, F
strong and black... and, these days, pretty poor quality...

and not so much in the zone of engagement.
Straylight · F
I used to be a big coffee drinker, but gradually quit. Wasn’t trying to, it just happened.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
So neither the USA or the UK drink enough to make the chart or they weren't surveyed, both of which explanations for their absence from the chart seems strange to me.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@FreddieUK Or we drink, on average, larger cups which amount to fewer cups per day in the survey results.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@sarabee1995 Yes, that's a good explanation.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
I typically have two 12 oz cups per day, and I drink it black. Tbh, I prefer black tea, but I like that with milk and sugar which would break my clean fast, so I’ve gotten used to black coffee. I’ve found some I like, but it can be bitter. I prefer light roasts or Italian roast coffee.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@sarabee1995 You don’t have to like coffee, but I do love sitting at a cafe in Paris having an Americano or a cappuccino while watching the world go by. :)
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@ChampagneOnIce Well, if truth be told, I have sat at many cafe's in Europe and ordered an Americano, just to sit and watch the world going by.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@sarabee1995 Exactly. It’s a nice, little pleasure.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I have literally measured my consumption by the pot, so say ounces is ridiculous! 🤣

My coffee maker makes 12 CUPS in the pot and I literally drink at least one pot or more a day! Yes at least 96 ounces a day!

And I have actually reduced that from 2 pots a day! I used drink a pot at work as well as a pot at home.

Always hot and black with sugar.

Now the caffeine content is totally a different matter. Coffee growing up would make most people hair curl just on the caffeine content.

Yet my coffee maker can't make it anywhere near the strength mom made it. Four heaping soup spoons is it's maximum and with the extra strength button pressed. Slower yet stronger.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@sarabee1995 withdrawal! I know that.
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
@DeWayfarer Lol, yup.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@sarabee1995 you must understand that coffee was a serious thing in even my whole family. My father was certainly no different than I am on the quantity.

He worked at a donut shop before retiring.
