Well it was cream at one time…

Who adds butter to their coffee?
OogieBoogie · F Best Comment
Ive done it. Its called a 'bullet coffee'.
Its tastes a bit odd....but not 'bad'. (It tastes better some heavy cream added as well).

Its low GI energy - good for diabetics as it doesnt spike blood sugar.

The idea is that its VERY slow burn energy, unlike cereal, or grains or sugars or fruit.
It gives you long term energy for the day - no crashes, no cravings .

Protein and fat, (with fat being the lowest), are the lowest GI , but high energy foods.
Slow burn energy. Lasting energy.

Butter is also full of long chain fats. I forget the details, but there are good fats and bad fats. And your body needs fat. Your brain is 50% fat. Your hormones are made from fat....etc.

Years ago we used to eat butter, lard, suet, meat fat.... now we are encouraged not to.
Now we have inflammatory diseases like diabetes, Alzheimers, arthritis, heart disease.

Mono saturated fats are NOT the enemy, (that we were taught in the 70's), to believe.
(Its a long story of big food manufacturers bullshit). Margarine and canola are CRAP.

As long as you dont have your fats with sugar or other simple carbs....good natural fat is your best friend.
I can't list the entire bodily systems that depend upon fat to function properly - there are so many.

But to put it simply - imagine this.
Butter has those LCF (long chain fats). Poly unsaturated fats are found in seed oils - and they are short chain fats.
Now your body uses fat to build cells - ALL cells in your body, (arterial walls, brain, heart, lung, muscle....even blood cells).

Now ...if you were building something - which is stronger: large bricks or small bricks?
Which has the most robust strength: large beams or small beams ?

Long chain fats are the best fats to build with. (Trans fats are the worst and the weakest and your body rejects them if better fat is ingested, but will use them if its all it has - trans fats are like building with sand)

So ...back to the question - i do .
I do it if im going to have a busy day.
If i have no butter, i will drink a tablespoon or two of olive oil , (which is kinda yuck - but), its incredibly important to get good fats often, to support inner repair of your body and reduce inflamation.

Sorry...i know this is a saga, but not enough people know how good, good quality natural fat is....and how important it is.

So yeah.... get some grass fed butter inya
👍😁

@OogieBoogie are you follwing the carnivore diet?
@UnderLockDown i only recently tried kefir, (a bought one)...it was kinda ok, but i feel it coulda been better.
I tried it as it has been a food often mentioned for nutrition....All that good fermented stuffs.
I did wonder if homemade would be better.

My mum used to make her own ginger beer and kombucha. Gosh they were yummy.
When kombucha became 'hip' and started apoearing on shelves....i was so happy.
I grabbed up a few bottles keen to be able to have it again .

It was RUBBISH ! ...this pale watery stuff with almost no flavour ....no tang . My mother's kombucha was so dark it almost looked like tea. In fact we used to go half and half with iced mint tea in summer.

The store bought ones are a rip off, and not like true kombucha at all - just a hint of the flavor, (and prolly only a 'hint' of good bacteria that makes it what it is - which is its WHOLE selling point.

So...i now im wondering if store bought kafir is like store bought kombucha🤔

I can imagine home made is way better🤗
@OogieBoogie I used to make kefired pineapple juice too, it was so good! Only let ripen half the time as milk, it's really good.
Takes a little practice to find your preferred level of fermentation, if you overshoot it, you can make kefir cheese, also very good.

Hi there, they claim if you add butter to your coffee at 9:30 a.m. it suppose to give you a surge of energy once you drink it, I need to try it.Thank you for your question.
@TheStraightEdgeSociety its not so much a surge as it is 'slow burn' long term energy.

I can go most of a day without eating if i have one of these in the morning...no energy slumps.

I’ve scooped cream off the top of the milk bucket for my coffee but never did the butter thing.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@Pinkstarburst The real McCoy!

I was 8 when i had my first drink of milk from a cow. I thought it was going to be cold! Yuck! 🤢
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
I’ve heard of it. Sounds gross though. I use MCT oil.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@DoubleRings Good stuff too!
Tumbleweed · F
I ran out of creamer and sugar so I tried vanilla ice cream.... Nope. Did not like.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@Tumbleweed Yuk. Not for me either.

My aunt made me a vanilla/rootbeer float when I was around 10-12 yrs old. I can still taste it. 🤢
Tumbleweed · F
@LunarOrbit I used to love root beer floats and sunkist floats but they both make me feel like 🤢 now
