Can smells live in your nose and come out unexpectedly?

I'm smelling coffee brewing. Very strong and unmistakable but there isn't any brewing 😳

My sense of smell died last year when I came down with pneumonia...and really never came back. I developed asthma afterward, and can't smell anything. Till today.

Today, my whole apartment filled with a lovely fresh clean laundry smell...sort of like Gain Fresh Scents...just lovely. I was astonished that I could smell it!
