You're probably sick of my posts about Riff. But guess what?

Here's another one.
I ventured forth to the kitchen to put the coffee on only to find that she'd completely destroyed the bunch of sunflowers that were given to me yesterday. The kitchen floor is now a carpet of petals and stem, an orange mess. I haven't cleaned it up yet; she's sitting in the middle and eating petals. I'll be pissed off if I have to clean up orange cat throw up.

Sunflowers are hardy in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 6 through 9. They are often used as cut flowers, which means indoor cats may also get into the plants. Although they are non-toxic, any plant, when ingested, can cause minor stomach upset in cats, according to the ASPCA.

@Cavedweller Cats are hilarious. This is a picture of Tucker when he got fat. I have him on a diet now, but he was quite ginormous.

@Serenitree That's one happy big boy! How old is he?
Serenitree · F
@Cavedweller He'll be five in December. He was rescued by the cat rescue society where I live, in the middle of a very cold snap, there was feral mom and four kittens, two of whom had already frozen to death. She was near dead, and the two remaining kittens were only alive because she was literally using her last breaths to breathe on them. The rescue people managed to save all three. The only thing was, from the day they were rescued, until they were adopted out, the only time human hands touched them, if was either painful or frightening. They were rescued at four weeks old and adopted out at ten weeks. It was sad, and funny. No feet had ever done anything to them, so Tucker wasn't afraid of my feet. He'd run ahead of me and lie on his back so I could rub his tummy with my foot, but if I reached for him with my hands, he'd run and hide for hours. He was nearly two before he trusted anybody's hands. He came and slept on my bed at my feet, but if I moved, he'd jump down and wait for me to settle again before coming up.

Prepare to be pissed (and some flowers are toxic to cats, so instead of just sitting there watching your cat potentially kill herself, you may wish to attend to it).
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@xixgun Done and dusted. She's now more interested in having a drink.
@xixgun HUGE KEY POINT> I got ONE effing plant name wrong by ONE word.

Guess what?
One of mine decided to eat THAT one, of 10 possible plants on the floor, she goes for that. It IS the one that was poisonous . WOW.

Thank God/dess she is alright.
It was minor, it literally passed through her system with zero indications except when it was very close to exiting, she was staggering. This was like 12 hrs after ingestion :O !
I called the pet poison control center at that moment.
I wish the poison control center would have told me it`s FINE , as it was, and not to get to the vet.

But it is about $$$ for them
so I paid for the taxi
and a vet visit
where the vet checked vitals (all fine, as the control center agent told me: She is going to be FINE.)
And read what the poison control center had told them.

It`s NUTS. @Cavedweller
How old is the baby?

Mine will eat plants from the garbage, mostly ANY plant matter, then vomit. But, she isn`t so keen on green veggies, such as peas or beans;
she was more into it, in the past.

She also eats fresh plants, so does her sister...Yeah.

The youngster does go into the garbage so I have to watch what goes there or keep it inaccessible. It is really FUN :D 🥂😅

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Riff is five months old. She gets into everything. She dips her paddy paws (yes both of them) into my morning and afternoon coffees and just celebrates in the froth.
@Cavedweller OH wow. That is just way toooooooooo cute!!! I am picturing her now...😍🤗

She is a BABY Awwwie!

my Maggie Mae is a lot like your guy. she can't stand to see anything in it's place and pushes everything to the floor. she gets in my cabinets and knocks things all over. I love her though and would never get rid of her
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@dentope3 Riff is still a kitten so she's got that naughty streak a mile wide.
dentope3 · M
@Cavedweller Maggie is almost 2, thought she would have outgrown it by now

@dentope3 Cats can and will be destructive little bastards. But I wouldn't trade either of my girls for all the tea in China.
