What is it about

I love "sea salt caramels."

And I like "trail mix" ("gorp") which is a mix of salty and sweet things like nuts, raisins, and chocolate.

But I raise eyebrows when I tell people I like having chocolate with beer! I don't do it often, but the bitterness of the beer leaves me craving the sweet of chocolate, which leaves me craving the bitterness of the beer, and so on.

I have tried salt on various sorts of chocolate, and I prefer the chocolate by itself. Whole Foods sells some sea salt chocolate caramels: chocolate covered sweet caramel with chunks of sea salt embedded in the chocolate. I've tried them repeatedly as is and after picking off the salt. To my taste, it's better without the salt.

I love salty and chocolate together. In fact, it's so popular here (Norway) we have chocolate covered bugles. We call it Smash and their catchphrase is: "you can't have just one"

I'm fairly indifferent to that combination. Chocolate with nuts on the other hand I love 🙂
