Breakfast in the UK

I鈥檓 sure this is so American of me, but for those of you live in the UK or are from there, do y鈥檃ll call English muffins just muffins?

I could ask the same about Canadian bacon in Canada but I don鈥檛 want to sound too ignorant this morning.

yeah i think we just call em muffins
but we also call chocolate chip muffins just muffins

its all very confusing
In the UK, what Americans refer to as "English muffins" are typically just called "muffins." The term "English muffin" is primarily used in North America to distinguish this type of bread product from other varieties of muffins, which are typically sweeter and baked rather than griddled or toasted.

As for Canadian bacon in Canada, it's often referred to simply as "back bacon" or "peameal bacon." Again, the term "Canadian bacon" is more commonly used in the United States to describe this particular type of bacon.

It's perfectly okay to ask questions about cultural differences or terminology! It shows curiosity and a willingness to learn.

I believe canadians call canadian bacon, ham. Because well...canadian bacon is just ham.
And are english muffins really muffins? I mean, i dont care for muffins(well... a muffin top can be edible). But then, i don't care for english muffins either(no tops for redemption).

English muffins are a US invention, coincidentally by an English person. I was in London a couple summers ago and don鈥檛 remember ever seeing one over there.

Madison Avenue strikes again.
@travelguy01 You never had a crumpet?
InOtterWordsF
Yes - they're just muffins
The British call them crumpets, in Canada it's back bacon.
