Is this weird? Am I antisocial?

I've been sick for two days now...food poisoning. Yesterday ALL morning and most of the afternoon my stomach felt like doodly doo. Today I think I am normal-ing out...but still having twinges.

Today being the 4th of July, there is a big barbecue. I just can NOT bring myself to go.

Instead, I slept late, have not even taken a shower, and I am definitely going to miss the big party. AND I feel guilty about that.

No, you need to do what you can for your health. I wouldn’t feel guilty about it. Sorry you are feeling so bad. It can take all the energy out of a person to get sick that way.

@cherokeepatti Yup. I was sick most of the night too. Tried to sleep and kept feeling nauseated. At one point...around 4:30 am, I had to get up and drink some milk because my ulcers were kicking up and my stomach hurt to touch it.

I slept till 11:15 am, and had to hit the ground running because I had ordered groceries to be picked up at noon. I got all of that done, and the groceries put away, got soaked with sweat...and now I am sitting here feeling like the dog's dinner.

Do you know what it was that you ate that made you sick? This sounds horrible. I got sick on cantaloupe 13 years ago. It was a huge Athena melon grown in Florida, very fresh. But cantaloupe rind can be a vector for growing germs. I believe I had Listeria. If I had it now that I am older it would probably land me in the hospital.

@cherokeepatti I know exactly what it was. I had a chicken salad plate with potato salad and cole slaw...and the chicken salad was chunks of chicken swimming in so much mayonnaise I had to scrape it off.

I ended up with a pile of mayonnaise...like THREE heaping tablespoons, and the chicken was still thoroughly coated. I ate it anyway, without the extra mayo...I had one bite of the cole slaw and knew I couldn't eat it. I wasn't supposed to eat potatoes...but I do love potato salad...and it was there...so I ate it.

@4meAndyou that chicken salad was probably held too long or else the mayo was going bad.

@cherokeepatti I think the mayo was probably bad.
