My ex's birthday is tomorrow and she has been having a bad couple of weeks, so I and my stepdaughter made her a cake... a vegan carrot cake with vegan cream cheese frosting, and did some amateurish decorating. No snide comments, we think we did good for a couple of nonbakers.

@iamonfire696 You should have seen me making the fondant for the carrot, its eyes, and mouth. Took me two tries to get that done, cut out the pieces, and then color each little part, but was a real bit of fun. It didn't turn out perfect, but it was fun.
@iamonfire696 No... I've made a cake before, but never the whole vegan thing, and never tried to make vegan fondant and cut-out shapes to decorate with.
I now know why these cake decorators charge so much.
It was all Google and trial and error, but still, it was fun.
