... depends on the waffle though. When people say "Belgian Waffles"... it's confusing if they mean just a normal butter waffle, a Brussels waffle or a waffle from Liége. But I guess outside Belgium the term "Belgian Waffle" is just an eye catcher. Most of the time, when you can buy a Belgian Waffle in a foreign country, you end up with warm sugar waffle (like in the picture), which are called "Gauffre de Liége" over here. Bascially a thick warm sugar waffle.

@Kwek00 Like every food, they're best consumed in the country of origin if you want to taste something authentic 😋

I think the ones that we find here are indeed the thick warm buttery sugary one.

That pic is p*rn tho 🤤

@Elessar Most of the time, it's sugar waffles. See the picture that I posted. Espescially yummy when they are still warm.

a Brussels' Waffle looks like this:

Its sweet, but not as sweet as a sugar waffle of course. These are ussually a bit lighter then other waffles and often served with fruit, whipped cream and a bit of a ice-cream.

This is the butterwaffle variant you find:
