Finally, the haram bacon

So yesterday, I had many things planned to get done on my first day here in Canada;

- Get immigration formalities and customs declarations completed;
- Get a SIN
- Get a Canadian number
- Try HARAM BACON

So at the airport, as I was wandering around, I saw the famous Tim Hortons, of course with a long queue.. I was not very hungry as I had just been given a meal on the flight, but I was on a mission hunting for haram bacon!! So I stood in line and bought the sinful sandwich... I did not eat it right away, as I needed to savour this historical moment, you know? So It was hours until I got to my room... And another hour after I settled in...

I put the show I was watching on the plane on, to continue the episode, and just casually grabbed the sandwich and started eating. Apparently, I HAD FORGOTTEN about it being a big deal and all O.o.. I did not realise until half way through that I was eating bacon, then I mumbled to myself with a full mouth; huh so this is bacon! ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿค” I do not see what all the fuss was about being forbidden and all ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ It tastes like;...meat ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I thought the forbidden meat would taste like something.. idk... something ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

..and then I ate the other half of the sandwich all disappointed O.o

That is lot of haram pig meat types.
You haven't eaten nothing haram until you try them all

@Miram Hey, do not encourage me to be all sinful! Isn't it enough that I ate bacon and thankfully the universe is still in order.. you want me to eat more?!!! Who knows what's gonna happen then ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@BittersweetPotato please, they didn't have pigs in the gulf.

They had boars.

So it is only rational that only boars are haram.

It is bad translation.

@Miram Aren't boars just male pigs?
BittersweetPotato ยท 31-35, F
@Miram Good point! This probably needs to be reflected in the Quran then!
BittersweetPotato ยท 31-35, F
@Miram On another note though, I have been reading about Islamic history, and there is a very good chance (if it is not even the most probable thing that happened) that Islam did not originate in the gulf area actually, but originated in Levantine area up north, near Syria/Palestine and this area..

@Longpatrol

No, dude. Boars are different. They are like the great great great grandparents of domesticated pigs. And they probably got more parasites and viruses.
BittersweetPotato ยท 31-35, F
@Miram More parasites and viruses, yummy! ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿคค

@BittersweetPotato they say if you deep fry it it's really unholy how good that shit is ๐Ÿ˜‚
Miram ยท 31-35, F
@BittersweetPotato never read that before. What made them conclude that?
BittersweetPotato ยท 31-35, F
@Miram It is a lot to talk about, but mainly the language of the Quran which 90% of it talks about Christianity and Judaism where such intellectual talks were happening in the levantine area at the time, not the gulf area, and also the geographical descriptions in the Quran that describe nature that didn't exist in the desert of the gulf area. There are other indications too, that had to do with Ibrahim and Ismael story and much more. If you are interested to learn about that, i followed a series made by Hamed Abdel Samad called box of Islam, it is in Arabic, and I learned a lot form it, plus he some suggested interesting books

@BittersweetPotato of course. Although that can be accounted for by the fact that he was travelling merchant. He was all over and had enough to gather everything including some of the hindus beliefs.
BittersweetPotato ยท 31-35, F
@Miram The thing is, he used to work as a merchant at the beginning only, but it is not like this is what he continued doing throughout his time preaching for Islam. Islam became his job after that. If you look closely, these people (him and his followers) did not have jobs, most of their time was wasted on wars, and their money was coming from the invasions they carried out, whereby they took the money of the defeated enemy, enslaved the women, and bartered some men (if not killed) for a ransom. The number of wars carried out in the years he spent in Madina, makes it difficult for me to believe that he was also working as merchant.. That's aside from the fact that the hadiths do not really reflect that, it is not like I heard of many hadiths talking about his job as a merchant especially after he left Meccah.

@BittersweetPotato I think there was no point in being a merchant while getting or in better words stealing easy money from invasions and such. Plus intercepting real merchants and taking their merchandise. As well as collecting money from both Muslims and the remainant non Muslims for protection. It was a messed up system but it worked and that was why his followers later decided to invade Egypt and North Africa. They said it themselves that Egypt was full of valuable things and that was probably their only reason to attack it and expand their business.
