Finally, the haram bacon

So yesterday, I had many things planned to get done on my first day here in Canada;

- Get immigration formalities and customs declarations completed;
- Get a SIN
- Get a Canadian number
- Try HARAM BACON

So at the airport, as I was wandering around, I saw the famous Tim Hortons, of course with a long queue.. I was not very hungry as I had just been given a meal on the flight, but I was on a mission hunting for haram bacon!! So I stood in line and bought the sinful sandwich... I did not eat it right away, as I needed to savour this historical moment, you know? So It was hours until I got to my room... And another hour after I settled in...

I put the show I was watching on the plane on, to continue the episode, and just casually grabbed the sandwich and started eating. Apparently, I HAD FORGOTTEN about it being a big deal and all O.o.. I did not realise until half way through that I was eating bacon, then I mumbled to myself with a full mouth; huh so this is bacon! 🥔🤔 I do not see what all the fuss was about being forbidden and all 🤷‍♀️ It tastes like;...meat 🤷‍♀️ I thought the forbidden meat would taste like something.. idk... something 🤷‍♀️

..and then I ate the other half of the sandwich all disappointed O.o

That is lot of haram pig meat types.
You haven't eaten nothing haram until you try them all
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Miram The thing is, he used to work as a merchant at the beginning only, but it is not like this is what he continued doing throughout his time preaching for Islam. Islam became his job after that. If you look closely, these people (him and his followers) did not have jobs, most of their time was wasted on wars, and their money was coming from the invasions they carried out, whereby they took the money of the defeated enemy, enslaved the women, and bartered some men (if not killed) for a ransom. The number of wars carried out in the years he spent in Madina, makes it difficult for me to believe that he was also working as merchant.. That's aside from the fact that the hadiths do not really reflect that, it is not like I heard of many hadiths talking about his job as a merchant especially after he left Meccah.
@BittersweetPotato I think there was no point in being a merchant while getting or in better words stealing easy money from invasions and such. Plus intercepting real merchants and taking their merchandise. As well as collecting money from both Muslims and the remainant non Muslims for protection. It was a messed up system but it worked and that was why his followers later decided to invade Egypt and North Africa. They said it themselves that Egypt was full of valuable things and that was probably their only reason to attack it and expand their business.

@Miram

Your recommendation has been taken under advisement 😌

I hope you're having fun regardless of your not finding bacon special...
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@AntisocialTroll My flight was fun actually. I enjoyed it and did not feel tired or bored.. So far I have not seen much of Canada, as my time yesterday was consumed with things to be done, and I have a weird strange feeling but I guess it is normal being the first time far away, and on my own.. Yet to explore today, I hope it is going to be fun.

Welcome to Canada!
And welcome to the world of pork.

I don't think the banning of pork (for observant Muslims or Jews) is based on taste. A pig is considered to be an unclean animal.

And if you ever visit a pig farm, you'll probably agree! 😆
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@BittersweetPotato Hey, I have no problem eating pork at all!
@DrWatson We're making fun of the excuse Muslims or Jews use that a pig is a filthy animal. I mean it isn't the cleanest but animals on general all smell horrible anyway. I saw cow and sheep farms and the smell was unpleasant.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether I am not making fun. The prohibition regarding pork is in the Bible too. Some Jews honor that restriction, others do not. And I believe there are even some Christian religions that observe the Mosaic dietary laws. I respect other people's religious observances if they do not impinge on my own rights.

@Longpatrol boo mf

@BittersweetPotato tsk tsk now I cannot make u my wife
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@Nanori Of course you can't make her your wife, you're my waifu!
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Nanori no pls 😢 i will behave 😭
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I`ve lived here all my life and never heard of Harem Bacon. Bacon between two slices of bread is a sandwich. I love it.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Degbeme i added the haram to make all dramatic 🤣
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato that's such an unfortunate spelling mistake 🤣
@BittersweetPotato was it? I don't judge if someone wants to get married to multiple packets of bacon. 🤷
Well,you haven’t told anyone so no one will know...

But some bacon tastes better than other bacon...

But I’m having a bacon sandwich for lunch....I could ask you to join me over breakfast 😀
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Potato would love to join the cat 🥔😚🥰 The sandwich was actually pretty good, but it just didn't taste anythiing different from what I ate before
LegendofPeza · 56-60, M
I haven't had a bacon sandwich in more than ten years. 🙁
@LegendofPeza not like you don't eat pork, though.
LegendofPeza · 56-60, M
@EarthlingWise Nothing compares to a toasted bacon sandwich with brown sauce.
@LegendofPeza for you, maybe.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
It was airport bacon of course it's not a revelatory moment lok
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@CountScrofula hey, stop all of you defending the bacon 🤣
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@BittersweetPotato Once you are in Ottawa go here:

https://thepiggymarket.com/

Tell them you have barely ever eaten pork and want a guided tour. They will make you happy.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@CountScrofula I definitely will! 😅 Also remember once you talked about a good shawarma place in Ottawa you should let me know about that one as well! :)
But there are so many ways to prepare it. Was the bacon in your sandwich even fried?
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato i think it was fried but i didn't pay much attention to what I was eating to be honest 😅
Wow how dare you 😅 you might as well try adding alcohol to coffee. Enjoy your stay 🥰
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether I am on a hunt for alcohol currently 🤣
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether Dude, I am really going to visit you, I think we would have so much fun together :)
@BittersweetPotato We definitely will 🥰🥰
Haram??? Isn't that a no no in your faith??? 🤔
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@HootyTheNightOwl Except that it is no longer my faith!

Yes, haram means "forbidden" in Arabic. Basically the opposite of the word Halal, which I bet everyone knows.
@BittersweetPotato I mix the two up - hence the question.

I couldn't eat bacon if someone paid me lol
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
For me all meat is haram!
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 are you buddhist?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Longpatrol nope, just ethically vegetarian. But I am Zoroastrian.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@basilfawlty89 I agree. I had a setback after my mum passed away, and found myself pulled back to eating meat, even though when I became vegetarian and then vegan, I did not even have the slightest trouble to cut meat from my diet.. I did it just like that. Anyhow, bacon was something I just needed to try out of curiosity
DDonde · 31-35, M
That's so fascinating to me haha. I love bacon.
MethDozer · M
That's a terrible first bacon really. You need to go to a decent diner and get the good bacon. Not too crispy
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@MethDozer I will, don't you worry! :D
