We also have this: President Barack Obama famously ordered lunch and grabbed lobster rolls at Nancy's Restaurant located on the harbor in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard.
I go to a church where it's probably 60% African people and most of them women. There are always a lot of aunties in the kitchen.
I don't know what the dishes are called but they make lots of amazing spicy meat stews and rice with beans in. There's also this kind of white bread like stuff that tastes a bit like mashed potatoes and bread mixed together.
I'm not very helpful I know. I can say join a lively Pentecostal church with a lot of Africans and you are going to get fed. Also the women are awesome at washing pots I noticed.
African women and pot washing seems to be a thing. If you can't see your face in it. It's not clean. I got kicked out of the kitchen last time we had a pot luck but that's ok. I know when I'm defeated 😂
