McDonalds 'southern fried chicken'. Before KFC was big, and things like other quick-service chicken meal chains were really a thing, Maccas had it's own line of fried chicken piece meals.
My dad, which he was still alive, and still used to see me and my sister after him and mum divorced in the early to mid 1980's, used to take us out to a particular Macca's where he apparently knew the franchise owner and I used to get the fried chicken meals. I don't remember what my sister got.

@bijouxbroussard From the mid 60s through the mid to late 80s I have little clue as to... well, much of anything social/cultural in the U.S. I was mostly gone to the four corners of our world and trying to catch up all the way through the 90s - never quite did😂

Peanut Butter Mayonnaise sandwiches
Drinks in steel cans, pulling off the tab and pulling it in the can as we drank it. Some cans needed a church key aka can opener
Macaroni and cheese with tuna and peas
Grits and gravy
Rice with cream of any kind soup. Bowl of rice and a ladle full of soup on top. It was always more rice then soup to make it go farther.
Making homemade noodles, we we're always making noodles from scratch and ate a lot of noodles, because it was cheap
Ox tail soup
Fried beef and chicken liver and their hearts that was also a common staple in our house to eat.
