Did anyone else's mom broil the crap out of steaks when you were growing up?

Always new york strips marinated in Italian dressing seasoned with mrs.dash afterwards and broiled to death. They were always kinda grey/brown but we ate the crap out of them because that's what was for dinner and there was nothing else.

For my Dad, yes -- he liked his steaks well-done.
The only thing "rare" is how often I eat red meat, but when I do, hamburgers or steaks, I prefer them well-done.
@ChipmunkErnie I suppose so. It’s the way I always had it cooked at home—but well-done can be cooked so that it’s still tender. My best friend likes her steak rare, and I remember her brothers teasing her that she ate steak "the way white people prepare it". 🤭

@bijouxbroussard I like them medium or even rare now, but growing up my Dad always had to have meat well-done. Even if he ordered a filet mignon at a restaurant, he'd ask for it toe be "butterflied" so it cooked all the way through. I'm not sure, but I think it might have been his Jewish upbringing?

Mine did for sure. grey steaks, veggies boiled til they looked partly digested.

Now I can make mine as bloody as I want.

No, but she usually managed to burn the baloney.
