Have u ever been on food stamps before ?

I was on it back in 2020 during the pandemic. I have not been on it since then though.
Now that I think about it, I should have also filed for unemployment, too.
But I went back to work like 3 months after the pandemic started.
I just got tired of sitting at home and living in fear.
I believe a person should be on food stamp assistance if they really need it.
Dont you. I mean, I would rather you have an EBT card than for you to go out and rob someone.
But it seems that lately, peoples benefits have been cut off. The good news is that it is now back on.
But you will only get half of what you had before, just in time for the holidays.
Have you ever been on foodstamps before. 🤔

I have never been on any kind of public assistance. Sometimes I had 2 or 3 jobs, my wife has always worked. I have been blessed to always have a job; I am 59 and haven't been unemployed since I was 18 years old. I know people who have had struggles and wound up on public assistance, and I know people who have abused the system practically their entire life. Welfare is a necessary thing, I am not sure the government should be in charge of it though. It should be a helping hand, not a career choice.

@Roadsterrider I have treated poor patients my entire life. I never ever met one who would not have preferred being able to earn more money.

@samueltyler2 My experience is different. I had a young lady that babysat for my wife and I, she was about to turn 16, I asked what her plans were, getting a license, college prep? Nope, her plan was to have a baby, no boyfriend, no plan for a husband, I asked why, "If I have a baby, I can get food stamps, housing and a medical card, I will be able to quit school and start my life." Another lady I knew worked parttime at an icecream shop, she was riding to work with me because she didn't have a car, she was offered a management position and her own store to run and full time employment, she turned them down, she would have to pay for her own housing, food, daycare, and healthcare and work 5 days a week. My daughter made some poor choices, wound up divorced with a child, was struggling and applied for public assistance, working a part time job at min wage, she made too much for assistance, the lady at the welfare office cheerfully told her to quit her job, stay home with her child and she would qualify for everything. All she had to do to have welfare is quit trying. I am proud of the fact that she was able to make it on her own with a little help from us and eventually by working about 4 part time jobs while completing a Vocational Nursing program got her LPN license and now lives in her own home, drives her own car, and is in a RN bridge program carrying a 4.0 GPA. There are those who need help, there are those who abuse the system.

@Roadsterrider I went to the VA about a month ago and the LVN (2 year nurse). told me she was making $45 an hour, because there is a nursing shortage and the VA has to pay what it takes to keep people employed. She said that the VA pays the most money in the Dallas area.

@DallasCowboysFan I am in PA, $12 to maybe $30 an hour here depending on skill level.
