I once visited a store on a reservation that posted the names of the shoplifters caught and banned from the store.
It was placed outside the front entrance.

@Adrift The restaurant where I worked posted bounced checks by the door. Every now and then someone would come in, usually very angry about the public humiliation, and pay off their debt.

@Adrift A Filipino woman who worked at Walmart said that they did that in the Philippines when anyone gets caught shoplifting.
