Can I vent about my shift?

So a couple comes in and orders two ice tea’s. Each one comes with a lemon slice.

I arrive at the table and bring them their drinks and suddenly I get triple sat. Then she goes “actually can I have an orange slice for my ice tea also?” And I say of course.

But then they proceed to order things that are only on the dinner menu. Once I explain that what they’re wanting is only for dinner, they finally order lunch options but they try to heavily modify them so I’m going to the kitchen to ask if this and that and etc is okay, and asking what isn’t.

I go to get an orange slice but nothing is cut, so I ask the bartender where the oranges are so I can cut some myself. She tells me there’s no need because she’ll do it. (This isn’t my usual restaurant so I’m still learning how things work and who is supposed to be doing what)

I go back to that stupid table and start to explain what they CAN do and what would be an up charge and this lady goes “Can you please bring me my orange slice for my ice tea please because I’m getting very thirsty”

If I was that thirsty, I wouldn’t be waiting on an orange slice in order to have a sip of my ice tea?

Omg, people!! This is exactly why I do NOT work any sort of food service.

@SomeMichGuy Yes!! That was my very LAST attempt to deal with the whole "People + Food = OMG" thing!
@Tumbleweed At least us cooks never had to deal with patrons.

I hope they left you a nice tip at the end as compensation for their obnoxious behavior.

It's just a job. Twenty or 30 years from now you'll stop having nightmares about it.
She's an "odd duck"...
