We are spoiled in many ways. But I don’t like salmon OR avocado. Blueberries, yes,

Is it your position that everybody gets gruel to eat until EVERYBODY can afford Wagyu beef?

There are myriad reasons why food is wildly expensive, and why people eat what they eat. There are also many who can’t buy blueberries, not because they are somehow oppressed… but drugs and alcohol are costly. Or they pay double price to buy food that somebody else made and have it delivered. Even coffee at Starbucks. Or they have more children than they can afford.

My income hovers just above the poverty level, due to my own poor financial decisions. But I can, if I need to, get more from food banks. I haven’t done that for years now because I figured out how to make ends meet.

I don’t think anybody owes me salmon and avocado OR blueberries.
@Nightwings Gotcha. 😊

@Mamapolo2016 Sorry for your situation. We have a community hub very close to where I live which distributes excess food for free - not means-tested, available to anyone. I visit about once or twice a week, and am usually amazed what I come away with. There's always loads of bread and potatoes but I limit myself on those because of my diabetes. This week I've had asparagus, avocados, corn on the cob, bananas, sweet peppers, pepperoni and gorgonzola, among other things. Saves me a fortune!
@ArtieKat Thank you. My situation needs no sympathy, though. I’m doing just fine. The more rich people I see and hear, the more I like being poor.

Why would I feel "spoiled" for eating healthy foods?

I work and pay my own way in life. I'm not going to accept being made to feel guilty/bad over the benefit of that.

@OlderSometimesWiser I'm having salmon later today. 😋
@Nightwings Sounds good, think I will too! Because I’m worth it. 💪
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@BrandNewMan I agree with all of this except: that's not what woke means.

IMO
Not spoiled at all. Healthy foods so that’s always good
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Blueberries grow abundantly where I live and are relatively cheap. Farmed salmon is also inexpensive and more sustainable than wild fish.

Avocado is quite a luxury though 🙂

@SunshineGirl I wanna move to wherever it is you live! 😸

I like salmon and I don`t feel spoilt at all. Now as for avocado I won`t touch.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Nightwings No I don`t feel spoiled at all. I eat salmon at least once a month. As for the fish eggs, I`d use that for bait. 😬
Nightwings · 31-35, F
@Degbeme OHH rich McGee over here using caviar for fish bait. 🙀
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Nightwings That`s about the only thing it`s worth.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I don't think of that is being spoiled if you can afford it and like it.
I think it’s great to eat all those things. Makes me feel like a brand new man! 💪🤣

In fact, it would inspire me to block the two women who embarrassed the hell out of me in a thread! 🤣
@Fallflower Lol……. he blocked Saage and I. Apparently we offended his delicate sensibilities. 😅
calicuz · 56-60, M
That's not "spoiled eating," unless one refuses to eat anything less, but then that may be all one likes to eat.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
Spoiled?? Those are some of the best healthy foods you can eat.
HiYou12 · 51-55, M
very healthy to eat those, super foods for your health
Not spiiled smart and healthy
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Nightwings

But it's extremely expensive?

Unfortunately, it appears they've made eating healthy more expensive than unhealthy food.
Nightwings · 31-35, F
@calicuz I so much love to eat healthy, but at this point I could buy a furniture for a piece of salmon. 😩
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Nightwings

I know, and it's unfortunate that, that's the way the world works.
