Well, then they'd not be "junk", but I think really it is the diet more than the food itself that is the problem.
The occasional sausage-and-chips or flavourless burger in floury bun, washed down with carbonated sugar solution, won't hurt you, but you'd certainly not want to exist on those from day to day. Expensive way to eat, as well.
