I do, well either it was Burger Chef or Burger Boy. One or the other around Columbus, Ohio.

@WillaKissing I/We lived in Columbus for a few years in the 60s when I was stationed at the old Lockbourne base. Loved it. We lived in the Whitehall area and enjoyed dozens of nearby restaurants. It was prior to the growth of franchised fast food. I still remember a place called Emile’s on Main. It was also the era when German Village was just starting to bloom. Great city.

@Heartlander I was born in 1965 and my mother and father met in Columbus at a Burger Boy drive thru. German Village is still there but with a less Germanic heritage living there now and became high dollar real estate. White Hall is still there but has become an inner-city ghetto area now. The whole city keeps growing and spreading out and changing greatly with a ton of money poured into the downtown area out past the Ohio State university. Still a great place to work in tech, industry, medicine, science, and construction trades.
Rickenbacker/Lockbourne base has become half military and half private where private jets and cargo come in and out of Columbus now. Columbus sounds the Rickenbacker area now. that whole area is wall to wall warehousing and no corn fields or woods any longer. Columbus International airport handles only passenger flights now.

@WillaKissing I revisited in the eighties, and my old neighborhood had been replaced by the interstate loop and exchange. Yea, even then, German Village was starting to look like a special place, though, then, still holding true to its heritage. Sad to hear about that part slipping away. Eddie Rickenbacker grew up on East Livingston street I believe, and that area has such a rich history. My wife worked nearby at children’s hospital. Another special treat was Sunday dinners at the old Worthington Inn.

@Heartlander I like the Worthington Inn. I have not been to it in many years though. I would have to google it to see if it was still there. The entire east and west side of Columbus have become inner city Ghetto areas, moved out away from downtown for downtown development. Where this money to be made folks get moved away from those areas in the name of progress.

@WillaKissing how sad. From downtown, east to Port Columbus, Whitehall was all pretty nice and stable.A couple of big employers near the airport, I believe it was where they developed and built OV10 aircraft. Also a big electronics company. But I imagine that Columbus probably suffered much like the dozens of other Midwestern cities, big and small, as factories shuttered and the US surrendered its post war boom. Well, more than the midwestern cities. Did any part of the US escape?
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@Heartlander No. no parts of the us escaped. The only thing that keeps Whitehall afloat as an independent city is that the area that use to be aircraft factories turned into the US governments defense and supply hub. Unfortunately, Whitehall has the highest crime rate of any little city surrounded by Columbus and Reynoldsburg that boarders Whitehall to the east is following suit with turning low income and ghetto.
