We were allowed, but on occasion. Looking back, though, I've never terribly big on either. Sure, I would enjoy it on the infrequent occasions I had them, but if I were allowed to more often, I think I'd get tired of them pretty quick. As I got older, I stopped drinking soda altogether and I very rarely eat candy. I find myself enjoying sweets less and less over the years.
