@CookieCrumbs See. This is what I m talking about.😂 You are cool as F. Shrimp n grits. Yeah. ☝
@Zonuss
Can't beat that combination. There is no way i would eat grits without shrimps.
@Zonuss

Yes I've had them all the time. I live in the south and was raised here half of my life. I cannot do them plain. I prefer them with cheese, and wore butter and black pepper. They are really good when served with fish or shrimp, fresh basil cheese bacon bits etc. That's a meal right there
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@Zonuss but I'm sure there's plenty of catfish around here
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@KingofBones1 Most eat whiteys or croakers. Sometimes salmon and bream.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@Zonuss I like them with salmon or brim sometimes bluegill or even saltwater grunt is good too. Shrimp also
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
LOVE me some grits!!! A little pepper and lots of butter!
Zonuss · 41-45, M
I'm from Mississippi. Grits was on the table at least 3 times a week

I HATE grits!
Setting the record straight, Grits are not popular in the entire US. It's a southern thing created from corn because many southerners needed something soft to eat. Many of them were missing teeth and had a hard time eating corn on the cob

Sorry, no thank you
Also the first ingredient in most hand cleaners. One of the things I've tried once and won't again.
@Zonuss grab any mechanics hand cleaner/degreaser and read the label. "Grits" is usually part of the first few ingredients.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Justafantasy Hmmmmm. 🤔
Colormegone · 70-79, M
@Justafantasy I think that is ground pumice stone
Elessar · 26-30, M
It's pretty much what we call polenta over here, iirc, so yes.

Technically I know how to make it as well, even though I never did. It's good also grilled and served usually with fish.

We have a yellow variant and a white variant.
RSquared · 61-69, M
Absolutely. Was raised on it. My mom was from the South. And it is a staple in these parts. I love a bowl of grits with butter, salt, and freshly ground pepper.
Prettybratbi1tch · 26-30, F
I got this thing where I won't eat certain foods mixed together.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Prettybratbi1tch What do you mean?

Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Prettybratbi1tch Uh you eat it separately like everything else. Most people do. ☺
Penny · 46-50, F
yess. grits and veggie sausage patties. yum. i like my grits plain with salt. i don tthink butter adds anything to it so why bother
Colormegone · 70-79, M
The secret is cooking low and slow, the instant grits are garbage.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Colormegone "no self respecting southerner uses instant grits!"
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Colormegone I agree. Just get the good ole Quakers bag and cook it slow. ☺
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
Grits done right are good. Done poorly they’re toxic.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@DownTheStreet I agree.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
