What do you DISlike about restaurants in your home town? ..

.. or anywhere! .. Apart from issues around tipping, the big restaurant annoyance for me is the amount of hard interior surfacing that boosts the noise level. Sometimes I poke my head in the door and decide 'No thanks'; Or I'll leave without ordering, after sitting for a couple of uncomfortable minutes. My favorites are the few where MW and I can still enjoy a quiet meal together.

They are nearly all chains or franchises. No originality, no genuine cooking. Everything is reduced to a "process". I would never pay money for something that is inferior to my own homecooking.
