Pre Covid Lunches

Before covid teams at my work would go out for lunch somewhere , usually this buffet near the office. It was fun then. It's like a morgue now, I miss the days when we had fun!

that is funny I did the same thing pre covid. i work remote now but I am in tech sales even without covid I would have eventually been a remote employee. I haven't been in the same room with a co-worker more than a few times in over a decade at this point with the exception of one stretch for 2 years.

We did more sushi lunches pre covid though.

@robertsnj That is so cool. 🙂

@Musicman if i remember you own your own business? I bet you make way more money than I do. I can't complain but do not stack up to either skilled workers who work with hands on specialized things (like a mechanic) or small business owerns

@robertsnj I owned a residential construction company. These days though I am retired.

Probably just lost the inertia of the habit. Bring up a suggestion! My daughter’s team all went home and stayed home so they just arrange to all drive in for lunch sometimes and she always enjoys that. If weekday lunches are hard, you could put feelers out about getting together for group volunteer projects. It just takes someone to kickstart the habit again. Good luck!

@JustNik I have tried numerous times over the past five months, but no one is interested. Everyone says it's a good idea, but everyone has an excuse why they can't. 🤷‍♂️

@Musicman aw that’s a bummer!! 🫂
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@JustNik I agree. ☹️

We used to go out a lot for lunch at work too pre-Covid. Now we rarely do.
Carla · 61-69, F
I always kept away from buffets.
Too aware of peoples bad habits, i reckon.
So i get skipping that.
Are you saying that the lunches went away all together? That would be sad.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Carla Yes, the sense of being of a team is lost now. We never do anything together.
Carla · 61-69, F
@JimboSaturn maybe there needs to be a discussion.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
You should arrange another get together! Bring back the old days
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@GLITTER I should! Not everyone comes to the office on the same days, but we can arrange it.

Covid is all bs. Don’t buy into it
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Are you missing some by them working at, or from, work?
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@ArishMell My old friends are a thousand miles away. We still chat on the phone, but that isn't the same as in person.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Musicman No, meeting face to face is always best but in the circumstances I can understand phone chats only.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@ArishMell We are talking about going back home this summer for a visit.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Yea same
Out of sight is out of mind.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
I completely agree with you. ☹️

@OrionInTheNight ultimately the point of work is to make money right...its not a social club I guess
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@OrionInTheNight They are not mutually exclusive however.
