What exactly is Malbec wine?

I know that the Malbec variety is wine is usually produced at a high elevation in terms of the grape growing.But,besides that,exactly how is it different from other wines?

It's a regional variety originating from south west France where it is mainly used in blends. It has been cultivated to a higher standard in Argentina and wines made from the single variety here have a spicy characteristic and are more highly valued.

@DavidT8899 It's not one of the 'noble grapes' that transplant easily like cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, etc.
