The cooking misadventures of Helsbels

I promise I'm an actual adult, but... how long should scrambled eggs take to do? On a hob in a frying pan?

I warmed up the pan first and they were still basically liquid after 10-12 minutes. And how many eggs should make one portion?
calicuz · 56-60, M
Ya gotta turn on the burner......................... I'm just sayin'!!!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
I would use a saucepan rather than a frying pan, or the heat will be too widely distributed and you'll end up with omelettes 🙂 Heat a little butter in the bottom. Two eggs per person mixed with a little milk. Should take no more than 5 mins 👍
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
I do three eggs and they cook really fast like 3 to 5 minutes heat your pan up and i put butter in it then put my eggs in and scramble them then when there almost dont i put my cheese in i love cheese eggs
helsbels · 31-35, F
@Bklynbadboy12 That was literally my method
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Are you remembering to actually scramble them? It sounds as if you are just letting them sit in the pan. You need to take a spatula and steadily scramble them around, so they will be turning over.
helsbels · 31-35, F
@DrWatson haha, yeah, I nearly gave myself a blister gripping the wooden spatula and poking it about
justanothername · 51-55, M
If you scramble them in a bowl first and add some milk then pour all that into a non stick frying pan and gently stir with a rubber spatula you should end up with lovely scrambled eggs after about 5-10 minutes on medium heat.

4-5 eggs is a medium serving.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@justanothername I use water instead of milk… the eggs are fluffier!
calicuz · 56-60, M
I like to add diced onion, chopped Spam cubes, and one Hash Brown torn apart, to my scrambled eggs.
AdaXI · T
@calicuz Isn't that just like a lazy mans omelette, lolz?🤔😆

@AdaXI

Hey, it's good, that's all that matters. 🤣

The butter should be sizzling but not hot enough to smoke when you put the eggs in the pan.. should just be a couple minutes for 2 or 3 eggs then
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
you're not supposed to eat more than two eggs a day. Eggs are very high in cholesterol
helsbels · 31-35, F
@DeluxedEdition If I only have 4 a week, but all at once, that must be ok though? It's less than 2 a day for a whole week.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@helsbels Sure that’s fine that’s just what the updated nutrition Model suggests
helsbels · 31-35, F
I did cooking!

4 egg scrambled eggs in a frying pan, I heated it up for 10 minutes before putting the eggs in and it was done in 3-4 minutes.

I chopped spinach too! 😱👩‍🍳
@helsbels Well that does make it more complicated :)
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@helsbels .... you heated a fucking frying pan up for 10 minutes?
helsbels · 31-35, F
@MartinTheFirst Well, no, not the pan. The oven top thing. Hob. It's an electric one and takes a while, that's why my scrambled eggs weren't cooking well before.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
Buy yourself a copy of How to cheat at cooking by Delia Smith and you’ll be fine 😂🙂🐼🥢
Vin53 · M
My scrambled eggs are done in about 4 minutes, start small, 2 eggs and whip them in a bowl. Heat butter in a small fry pan on med low heat. Pour the eggs into the pan and let 'em sit for about a minute. Lightly turn the curds over into themselves and move the pan on and off the burner to ensure cooking consistency. hit 'em with salt and pepper and fold curds until you get your proffered doneness.

I just made some not 3 hours ago.
Sounds like a heat or pot/pan issue perhaps.

Not unlike my college roommate who attempted scrambled eggs on an electric BBQ GRILL hotplate.
He didn't have a pan, so covered the holes in the bbq grill surface with tin foil.
He didn't have common sense either; as 4 of us watched him chase runny egg around the tin foil--WITH A FORK---which he pierced, and his yolk disappeared 🤣
helsbels · 31-35, F
@SethGreene531 🤦‍♀️
This is a good video on scrambled eggs.

wow - Enough said!!!!! Microwave is best!!! Beat them in a glass jug and pop them in - max power for about 30 seconds, take them out and stir then repeat for 30 seconds and keep doing that until the whole lot is fluffy and cooked!
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I would say two eggs are one portion. They should only take a couple minutes to cook.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@helsbels Yes it should only take 3 maybe four minutes.
helsbels · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn I have the same problem trying to make porridge with oats, just stirring the milk forever 😩 I don't think I am doing anything wrong at least 🤣
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@helsbels It must be not hot.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
are you sure the spot on the hub where you are putting the frying pan is hot?
helsbels · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn Maybe not hot enough, but steam was coming off the butter/eggs
@helsbels then you should of turn it up a few notch to get some heat in it it should sizzle with the butter like shhhhhhhhhhh sound then bring it down as it starts to brown
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
I put a little splash of milk in a few beaten eggs and stir. Kinda until it's not liquid but not dry either.
Whyme · 46-50, M
Well I dunno why but the blonde surprises me in my mind I invisioned you with black hair
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
They cook in just a few minutes, good with diced ham and american cheese😋
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
Throw the eggs at you're neighbor's house. That usually does the trick.
That depends on the level of heat. It’s impossible for me to say without that.
TexChik · F
Depending if you want "wet" scrambled or dry...3-4 minutes.
helsbels · 31-35, F
@TexChik Closer to dry than wet but after twice that long it didn't look like any kind of eggs, just a yellow puddle
Ferric67 · M
Sounds as if the stove top is not working correctly, that's ample time to cook the eggs
GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
they should only take a few mins and as many a you can eat i guess
dsrice · 56-60, M
About 3-4 minutes of cooking time.

Here is a guide:

popmol · 26-30, M
it all depends on how you want scrambled eggs.
They should have been cooked by then.
helsbels · 31-35, F
@Spoiledbrat I even warmed the pan first and had it on a decent heat. It is electric rather than gas and I don't think it's very good 😅
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
Do them in a saucepan
helsbels · 31-35, F
@wonkywinky I'll try that next time
You need an airfyer
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
3-4 minutes and 3-4 eggs
I cook 3. 1 full egg and 2 egg whites. @MartinTheFirst
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
Am I going to have to come round and show you 😋
helsbels · 31-35, F
@HotPizza71 I just started doing boiled or fried instead 🤣
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
@helsbels ahhh my babies getting all grown up 🤨😝
