Favourite bourbon?

I'm a UK bourbon drinker and our supermarket selections tend to be quite limited. I've ordered some bourbons off Amazon but I'm keen to hear some recommendations from US SWers
@DavidB44 has kindly recommended Basil Hayden. Anyone else?

There's no right or wrong here - please don't deride the tastes of others who comment
I'm a bottom to mid shelf drinker myself. I love wheated bourbon.

Bourbon Biscuits

Certain now-deceased relatives of mine (who tended to have impeccable taste) were very fond of Maker's Mark.

If you have money to burn, Bob Dylan released a line of bourbon whiskies under the name Heaven's Door. It's above my pay grade.

I went to Kentucky last year and visited Maker's Mark. it was fascinating. Most ofthe bourbon companies are owned by China so they told me.
heavyone2 · 61-69, M
@akindheart Yep and the Japanese folks bought lots of the distillers too.
Pappy Van Winkle 23 Yr Old for those with deep pockets!

@KentuckyWildcats - blimey 😳
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
@KentuckyWildcats I agree. Weller is the best place to start. Green label is very inexpensive. Best low cost Bourbon I have found. Gets better as you go to Red label reserve and Black lable is great when you can find it.
UKNaturist · M
@Funtoy4u - not seen any of them over here
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M

UKNaturist · M

UKNaturist · M
@WonderGirl - I've heard people say that - but it's awesome with Coke 😉
WonderGirl · 41-45
@UKNaturist I used to drink it with coke when I was young. Now I drink it straight on ice.
UKNaturist · M
@WonderGirl - can take mine either way - depends if I want a long or a short drink
Amy78 · 46-50, F
I’m a Jim Beam drinker but we always have a bottle of Blantons single barrel at Christmas
UKNaturist · M

Four Roses Single Barrel is good but not one I normally drink. For several years I've drank George Dickel ( the 90 proof white label version) which is sold here as a Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey. I think there's a version sold as "bourbon" which has the same grain bill as all George Dickel whiskeys but is aged slightly different (never actually seen a bottle of it in stores though).

I've had Basil Hayden and it's ok. I normally avoid 80 proof whiskey so it isn't one I would buy.

I recently found one called Dread River from a distillery in Birmingham Alabama. They've only been in business for about 3 years and I'm not even sure it was aged long enough to legally be called a Bourbon. Cheap but very drinkable. I'd buy it again but there seems to have been a limited amount available. I wish I had bought both of the bottles the store had. I doubt you'll find that one over there anytime soon.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I like Bulleit and Michter's.
UKNaturist · M
@DrWatson - I've had Bulleit and Bulleit Rye before but not Michter's
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
Four Roses Small Batch Select, Knob Creek 9, Woodinville Straight Bourbon, are just a few on my short list. There are a lot of more expensive options but these are some of the best for everyday drinkers.
UKNaturist · M
@RuyLopez - had straight Four Roses and Knob Creek. Heard of Woodinvle but never seen it
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
@UKNaturist Angel's Envy is excellent and just tried Penelope Architect. They are ABV finished bourbons are are very soft and sweet with nice oakiness (is that a word) with the Architect? :-)

@UKNaturist It’s not too expensive here either lol
I like Jim Beam.
