Sticker Shock!!! I just priced BUTTER, and it is up to $5.29 for 4 sticks!!!!

They are definitely "sticking" it to us...馃槹

I can't remember EVERY price before inflation, but I remember ALWAYS paying $3.99 for store brand butter. I thought that was expensive.

What are some pre-Biden and post Biden prices you remember from YOUR local grocery store?

Fancy Feast cat food was 69 cents and paid $1.29 the other day and let's not even talk about Bounty paper towels over $20 now

@saragoodtimes I was having problems finding tins of cat food at Walmart and other stores for a reasonable price. So I started buying them at Aldi and they jacked the price up 20 cents a can a few weeks ago, making it more than twice as much as it was at the beginning of this year. So I found some at Walmart and bought a lot and it was the the same price that Aldi had before they jacked the price up. Then the next time I went to Aldi they had lowered the price down to what it was before. Seems these stores may be playing games when people start buying more of certain items. Here a month before Thanksgiving one local grocery chain jacked the price of their eggs up to $18 for a 5 dozen box. Walmart鈥檚 price stayed the same at less than $11 for the same size and Winco鈥檚 is $8.69 for 5 dozen of the medium eggs.
@cherokeepatti found Fancy Feast at Walmart for 89 cents and bought 60 cans but don't go there very often. at market corn oil used to be 3.99 for 48 ounces it was 8.99 Tuesday and Olive oil is out of this world at 27.99 a gallon. how's an Italian family going to survive

@saragoodtimes it鈥檚 terrible.
@cherokeepatti we're lucky we can absorb high prices but feel for the elderly and those living paycheck to paycheck. Alan has revised his policy and his staff has made arrangements to set a payment plan for co-pays and deductibles. people need health care

@saragoodtimes I used my Covid stimulus money to buy a Berkey filter and then healthy supplements, gluten free baking supplies, and also bought up pantry foods to have on hand. I thought of it as an investment because the way the prices were inflating I figured some items would double and my SS check is staying the same.

@saragoodtimes Bounty is what I BUY... I LOVE those towels. But to be fair, the $20 pack is for the triple mega roll select a size 8 pack. I don't mind paying $20 for that.

@saragoodtimes @cherokeepatti Re: cat food, I am really lucky my cat hates the canned food. I buy the tiny little dry nuggets...Purina. It's supposed to help reduce allergy symptoms.

Unfortunately, kitty is ill right now...upper respiratory...and doesn't really want to eat his regular food...so tonight for dinner he had a finely shredded slice of his favorite favorite deli smoked turkey breast and about 6 little catnip flavored Temptations cat treats.
@saragoodtimes How is a person who is gluten free, sugar free, lactose free and must subsist on meat protein, veg and fruit, going to survive? These are the most expensive things.

I am worried for sure.

How do we find families in the same boat, and find a farmer and so when they butcher an animal maybe it can be a bit cheaper? I don't really know. Every 'normal' person is struggling to make ends meet.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Those who have a scrap of garden must certainly grow veggies there...and those who have a window must use their ornamental plant space to grow their own tomatoes and herbs.
@4meAndyou I have East facing with small windows and also our winters last more than a season. It's pretty hard.

But I agree. Keep on trying. Can't give up.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I remember growing things in my basement...trying to get a head start on growing season. All you need is a gro--light bulb. I used to grow alfalfa sprouts under my sink! 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ
@4meAndyou I am Mama to cats: I actually can't imagine where I'd put the grow light, ATM. We are in a small apartment.
Cats will go exactly where you do not want them, it's like toddlers, who never learn the 'no go' zones 馃ぃ.

But. You have planted a seed in my head, that's for sure!
(Pun absolutely intended 馃榿馃き馃榾)
@4meAndyou I started melons early last year in my window and they were growing so nice and even had a cantaloupe sweetness. my Amy couldn't resist and ate them

@saragoodtimes There are tons of things you can grow inside, even without great windows if you have grow lights!
@4meAndyou have the sunroom that gets plenty of sun for my plants

@saragoodtimes You are VERY lucky. Poor LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON is a vegan, has a lot of health issues, both her and her daughter, AND can't really afford to buy veggies because the prices have gone so high...AND doesn't have proper natural light for growing things.
