Why are they called "soft drinks" when they don't feel soft to the taste?

Shouldn't drinks like Powerade, Gateorade, Kool-Aid, lemonade, etc., be considered as soft drinks? They're soft enough.😂

SOda FounTain = S.O.F.T. drink. 🙃

This little fact was given by a certain mayor in California that actually ran a old fashioned soda fountain shop between 1960 - 1980. He was very old even then.

My in-laws ran the shop right next to him so I spent quite a few hours there.

Some of them even hold the power to peel off layers on coins and clean dirty toilets.😂

@SW-User My dad is an Aircraft engineer, he's got tales of using coca cola to clean the windshield in case to don't have industrial strength cleaners available

@Longpatrol It is coca cola I am talking of too. Imagine what it must be doing to our insides if it has more power than industrial strength cleaners.

Right! Drinking a coca-cola straight out of the machine is like a shot of vodka.

Soft in the sense they don't contain "hard" liqour.

Cause they don't contain alcohol
