I suspect your market is probably buying salvaged food to save money. It's a new thing. But you DO have to use everything up right away.

Meat or poultry should be used same day or frozen in new packaging. I don't even buy real milk anymore because I can't use it before it sours. I buy coconut milk or oat milk.

They seem to have tons of the same date milk... Like they restock the shelves right up until exp date whereas it used to always be every 2 days new ex date

Always pick from the back, or the bottom. The meat on the bottom has been kept colder and is less likely to have been left out and then returned to the meat freezer. Same with dairy products.
